During the spring vacation break in April, members of Troop 177 traveled to Boston to visit the historic sites and earn the Freedom Trail patch.

Scouts and leaders as well as some family members left Washburn on April 24 in a snow storm aboard the troop bus. After a stop in Biddeford at the Kobe Hibachi restaurant, the troop completed their trip to the Boy Scout Camp Nobscot in Sudbury, Mass.
Friday, April 25, brought a trip on the train from Riverside Station to Boston and a ride on the duck boats. Several of the boys were able to drive the boat while on the Charles River. Following the boat ride, the troop toured the Museum of Science and took in a movie at the Omni Theater.
Friday evening the troop enjoyed a barbecue back at Camp Nobscot after a side trip to pick up Bob Cole’s barbecue grill.
On Saturday, April 26, the troop traveled back to Boston where Bob Cole led the tour through the historic Freedom Trail with visits to the USS Constitution and Bunker Hill where the group climbed the 294 steps up the Bunker Hill monument. Many historic sites were seen and the boys certainly gained a lot of knowledge from Bob Cole.
Sunday was the trip home, with the group sharing stories about the wonderful adventure.
Stay tuned for the next adventure of Troop 177.
Those attending included: Scoutmaster Larry Harrison; assistant leaders Donald Wilcox, Ronald Rand, Stacey Skinner, Mike Thompson, Trevor Pendexter and Matt Cole; youth attending were Taylor Skinner, Tyler Jardine, Caleb Thompson, Carvor Pendexter, Aaron Skinner, Paul Tardie, Ryan Cole and Beckham Vaughn; other family members who joined the group were Christine Skinner, Pam Wilcox, Joana Cole and Meagan Cole.
