BOHOVICH, Doris Maude (Chandler), 89, PRESQUE ISLE, May 24, 2014. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 1 p.m., at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, Presque Isle. Arrangements are under the care of Faye Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Doris Maude (Chandler) Bohovich, 89, passed away in her home after a brief illness on Saturday, May 24, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 24, 1925 in Castle Hill to Alfred Chandler and Dorcas (Ellis) Chandler.
Doris grew up in Castle Hill and attended Presque Isle High School from which she graduated in 1943. She went on to work at WT Grant and then to New England Tel and Tel where she was employed as a telephone operator for 26 years. After retiring from New England Tel and Tel, she joined Telephone Pioneers of America, Jasper N. Keller Chapter and attended their meetings.
She married George Bohovich in October 1944 and they were happily married for 30 years until his death in 1974. They had two children together, Patty in 1945 and Calvin in 1947.
In her remaining years Doris enjoyed cooking, putting puzzles together, sitting outside on her swing, and organizing the telephone operators’ annual Christmas parties. Above all, Doris enjoyed being surrounded by her family and close friends, and caring for them in any way she could. She provided childcare for her grandchildren whenever there was a need believing family is the best caregiver. She was a hard worker, who always spoke her mind and would not hesitate to help someone in need. She will always be remembered for upholding family traditions and being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
In addition to her parents, Alfred and Dorcas, Doris was predeceased by her husband, George; her twin sister, Dorothy (Dot) Mulloy; her brothers-in-law, William (Bill) Mulloy and Raymond Russell; and her sisters-in-law, Miran Chandler, Mary Chandler, and Theresa (Terri) Chandler.
Doris leaves behind a daughter, Patty Everett of Presque Isle; a son, Calvin Bohovich and his wife, Marie of Fort Fairfield; grandchildren, Jeffery Everett and his wife, Candy, Anthony Bohovich of Presque Isle, and Angela (Bohovich) Campbell and her husband, Colby of Brewer; great-grandchildren, Molly Everett and Emma Everett of Presque Isle, and Benjamin Everett of Bangor; great-great-granddaughter, Charlotte Williford of Presque Isle; three brothers, J. Vernon Chandler of TX, Vincent Chandler of FL, and Vinal Chandler and his wife, Carol of NH; a sister, Margaret Russell of NH; close friend and neighbor, Jean Michaud of Presque Isle; close friend, Wilma Long of Washburn; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Rose Lovely, Ruth Collins, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at TAMC for their support and loving care.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 1 p.m., at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, Fleetwood St., Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, Doris asked that donations be made to the family, care of Patty Everett, 50 Cedar St., Presque Isle, ME 04769.
