OXBOW, ME – Donna Lee Provencher, 61, died unexpectedly on May 5 at Eastern Maine Medical Center with family at her side. One of five children, she was born to Archie H. Corrow and Evelyn M. (Colbeth) Corrow on September 14, 1952, in Hardwick Vermont where she spent her childhood years.
Donna and three of her siblings attended Hardwick Academy in Hardwick, VT. Donna was extremely proud to have been a member of the last graduating class in 1970. The school was closed and torn down the following year.
Donna was a New Englander through and through. She spent her early childhood years in Vermont where she then moved to New Hampshire in her late teens, living with her older sister. She was married and had two children. In 1978, Donna moved to Oxbow with her family and her older sister and her family. Years later, her older sister and her family moved back to New Hampshire but Donna had fallen in love with Oxbow. She lived the remainder of her life in Oxbow and the surrounding communities. She spent three and a half decades working for local businesses, farms and sporting camps. The majority of that time, more than twenty years, was spent working at the Oxbow Lodge through three changes in ownership. It was this connection to the local communities that created bonds with so many friends and families. This is best summarized in the words of a fourteen year old young lady that Donna had known from birth, while working for her family at the Oxbow Lodge.
“Dear Mr. Dale, My deepest sympathy for your loss. Donna was an amazing, hard working, upbeat person who could always brighten your day with her cheery smile. She will be deeply missed. I am so thankful that she was part of my life for so many years. Love Annika”.
Donna is survived by her beloved “sweetie”, Dale Grass; son, Brent C. Corrow and his four children, Aaron (great-grandchild, Aaron Jr.), Brent Jr., Laryssa and Esther; son, Eric P. Provencher and his wife, Kerri L. Provencher and their two children, Nathaniel and Alexandra. She is also survived by all four of her siblings: Patricia (Corrow) Barden, Nina (Corrow) Foster, Clayton Corrow and Archie Corrow.
Donna was a mother, a partner and a best friend. She is loved and missed more than words can ever describe.
A small service will be held in Bristol, NH, at Wellington State Park on July 12, 2014, with another service to follow in the Oxbow/Masardis area at a later date.
