FORT FAIRFIELD – Police are investigating an incident involving a home break-in and assault that occurred on Friday, Sept. 21. The Fort Fairfield Police Department responded at about 5:45 a.m. to a reported burglary on Church Street. The victim, identified only as a female resident of the apartment, was sleeping when an intruder entered the two-level dwelling.
The woman told officials she heard footsteps in the downstairs living room. Going to investigate the noise, she confronted the person and a struggle followed. The victim subsequently sustained cuts and bruises when she fell down the stairs.
Police did not know what the intruder was looking for.
Officers are following up on leads and the case remains under investigation.
