Snowmobilers end club season

Mapleton snowsled riders rode to Washburn to mark the end of the 2022-23 snowmobile season and stopped at the local clubhouse.

The Washburn Trail Runners Snowmobile Club groomed the trails for the final time this season on March 29th. The kitchen was open the following Friday, Saturday and Sunday before closing.

The club had many volunteers to help make this season enjoyable for all sled riders.  A big “thank you” was extended to all these volunteers and to the Caribou Snowmobile, Aroostook River Snowmobile and Nordic Lakers clubs for their help the last few weeks of the season. Special thanks to Bob Gagnon, Loren Johnson, Doug Beaulieu, Dick and Audrey Hartford, Herm Belanger and Purdy Dobbs, the volunteer kitchen crew, who prepared and served delicious breakfasts and lunches to everyone who rode a sled in or drove in.

Mapleton residents (from left) Kim, Debbie, Mason and Travis Archer rode their sleds over to the Washburn Trail Runners Snowmobile Club for breakfast April 2, the kitchen’s last day of the season. Hardcore snowmobilers like the Archers came to enjoy breakfast one last time. Taking their orders is Audrey Hartford, a member of the club’s volunteer kitchen crew.

Club members, the groomers and the kitchen crew are already looking forward to seeing the return of riders and visitors next season.

Members’ dinner

The Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club will hold a potluck supper at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, at the clubhouse.

This will be the club’s first members’ supper since the beginning of Covid pandemic.   Snowmobilers and ATV members are welcome — all members, come one and all.  Anyone interested in joining either club is welcome to come as well.

If you are a member or an interested prospective member, contact Sue Maynard at 764-1236.  She will be glad to answer any questions you may have for Saturday evening’s dinner.

Craft and Vendor Fair

The Mapleton Daze Committee thanks everyone who came out to our annual Spring Craft/Vendor Fair on Saturday, April 1.  The Fair was held at the Mapleton Elementary School.  All who attended experienced a fun time.

Children enjoy visiting with the Easter Bunny at the Spring Craft and Vendor Fair, held at Mapleton Elementary School. The Mapleton Daze Committee, along with about 35 crafters and vendors, used the fair to raise funds for this June’s Mapleton Daze, slated June 20-25.

The Committee sends a big shout out and thank you to the Easter Bunny for stopping by to take pictures with the kids.

This was the area’s first craft fair of the spring season.  There were approximately 35 crafters and vendors scattered out across the gym, the cafeteria and hallways. Free face painting was offered to kids, and donations of school supplies were collected and given to the Mapleton Elementary School.
