Region Two School of Applied Technology is proud to announce that Braden White has been recognized as Region Two’s Student of the Year for 2023.
White is a graduate of Houlton High School who has been a student in Josh Murchie’s auto collision program at Region Two for the last three years, while attending Summit Academy. During that time White has really flourished and honed all the necessary skills to become a successful auto collision technician.
White has proven himself to be a real “go-getter” and is constantly looking to learn new skills in the trade. He has obtained all industry recognized and stackable credentials made available to him throughout his time in the program. White has earned and maintained ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Student Certifications in all four collision areas: mechanical and electrical components, structural analysis and damage repair, non-structural analysis and damage repair and painting and refinishing. White has earned his OSHA-10, as well as his CPR, AED and First Aid Certification, additionally he has completed 2-Post Lift Training, Lock-out Tag-out Training, Fire Extinguisher Safety Training, and has earned many of the Employability Skill certifications from CareerSafe Online.
Additionally White has shown that he has a deep understanding of the hands-on portion of this demanding trade. He is employed at a local car dealership in the body shop and is always willing to share his experiences there with his peers in the classroom. No matter the task you can always count on White to give it his best effort.
This was demonstrated recently when White stepped outside of his comfort zone and showcased his talents at the SkillsUSA Maine State Championships where he proudly earned the gold medal in Automotive Refinishing Technology and is looking forward to representing the state of Maine at the SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta this summer!
