FORT KENT, Maine — Connor Pelletier of St. Francis, a senior at Fort Kent Community High School, has been selected to receive the 2023 Principal’s Award Principal John Kaleta announced earlier this month. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship. Pelletier is the son of Michelle and Mitchell Pelletier of St. Francis.
Throughout his four years at FKCHS, Pelletier has distinguished himself as a phenomenal student who represents his school and community so well in so many ways. Pelletier has excelled in the CHS/VRMS Drama Program and has had numerous major roles since his middle school years. He is an active member of NHS, Link Crew, student representative to the SAD 27 School Board, student council, class president for all four years and is the vice president of the Maine Association for Student Councils to name a few of his school activities.
Pelletier also gives back to his community freely and selflessly, he has logged over 360 hours of community service in many areas from peer tutoring to “Friends of Northern Maine.” Through this organization that he organized during the pandemic, seamstresses created and sent 1,000s of face masks to front line workers across the country. For this and other reasons the Greater Fort Kent Chamber of Commerce awarded Pelletier the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award during his junior year.
Kaleta noted concerning this year’s award recipient, “Connor has many gifts that he shares freely with his school and community, he was truly a bright light during the darkness of the Pandemic!”
Pelletier, Kaleta and other award winners and their principals will participate in the MPA Principal’s Award banquet in Brewer on Saturday, April 1 at noon. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
