MADAWASKA, Maine — Peyton Cyr of Madawaska, the daughter of Jason and Laurie Cyr and a senior at Madawaska Middle/High School, has been selected to receive the 2023 Maine Principal’s Award, Principal Wayne Anderson announced.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Throughout her years at Madawaska Middle/High School, Peyton has held high academic standards for herself, has an exceptional work ethic, and exemplifies dedication in all she does,” stated Anderson. “Her passion for learning and growth, both in and out of the classroom is extraordinary. Peyton epitomizes the social and academic values of our school; again, her work ethic is beyond reproach. Peyton very much earned and deserves this recognition. We are proud to have Peyton awarded this honor and have her recognized as the MPA Principal’s Award recipient for Madawaska Middle/High School.”

Each principal who recognizes a senior for this distinct honor as well as the award recipient are then invited to participate in the Principal’s Award Honors Luncheon on Saturday, April 1 at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an MPA pin, an individual plaque, and the awarding of 10 $1,000 scholarships.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
