50 Years Ago — Aug. 2, 1973

  “Family garden” boom – What started as a simple “family garden” is turning into an agricultural boom for Gerald Desjardins of Van Buren. Desjardins displayed a 14-inch cucumber, one of the many products his little venture had developed.

25 Years Ago — July 29, 1998

Bouchard first resident to graduate from MSSM — On Saturday, June 13, 1998, Kristofer Bouchard of Madawaska graduated from the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone. Bouchard, an Eagle Scout, will soon be heading off to Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. where he plans to study neuroscience in the university’s honors program. The MSSM is a public two-year residential school offering intense programming in the sciences, mathematics, computer science, arts and the humanities.

10 Years Ago — July 31, 2013 

Looking back: Madawaska, 1976 — Two men, identified only as Fisher and Zimmerman, look on at a public speaking event in 1976 in Madawaska. This is one of 12,000 slides and 30,000 photos that Fraser Papers gave to Martin Turgeon 10 years ago to scan into photographs, share, and eventually donate to the Societe historique du Madawaska.
