ASHLAND, Maine — The Big Woods Grass Drag will return this Saturday, Aug. 26, or on Sunday, Aug. 27, if there’s torrential rain.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. and closes at 9 a.m., an hour before the big drag race starts. Snowmobile drag racers have to register at $20, minis at $10, plus $5 tech per sled.
The prepared grass drag track is located at 133 Masardis Road across from Trotting Park. The track has three sections with 500 feet of grass drag, a 100-foot clay start, and a 1,000-foot shut down, according to Big Woods Drag’s website.
Shoot Out Classes award total grand prize money to the winner, 70 percent of registration to second place, and 30 percent to third place. The Mini and Junior grass drag classes will be awarded trophies.
Special awards are $100 for the quickest reaction time and farthest travel.
The Ashland and Portage Snowmobile Clubs joined forces to revive the grass drag in 2018.
