The National Weather Service in Caribou is predicting more heavy rainfall tonight and into tomorrow.
Aroostook County is expected to get between 1.2 and 1.8 inches of rain. The heaviest rainfall will start after midnight and taper off Tuesday morning. A flood watch hasn’t been issued for Aroostook County.
This is happening after Tropical Storm Lee poured an average of more than an inch of rainfall in Aroostook County with Limestone seeing the most rain at 2.75 inches. The heaviest rainfall of more than two inches happened on the eastern side, according to Lousie Fode, National Weather Service warning coordination meteorologist based in Caribou.
Damage from flooding data is still being assessed, Fode said.
Around 1,366 power outages were reported in Aroostook at around 4:30 p.m. during Saturday’s tropical storm and by 8:45 p.m. the number of outages decreased to 80 in Aroostook County, according to Marissa Minor, lead communications specialist at Versant Power.
Wind speeds were the strongest in Houlton with gusts of 54 mph compared with 39 mph in Presque Isle, 41 mph in Frenchville and 43 mph in Caribou.
