Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on June 24 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The speaker was Rotarian Mitch Ross. He spoke about the Missions Trip to Jamaica that he and several local individuals will be taking in November with Teams for Medical Missions.
They will be working in three areas: medical, building and evangelism. The medical team will work in clinics and see several hundred people during their week on the island. The building team will build a 16- by 20-foot building that will become home to a local family. The evangelism team is invited into local schools to teach Bible stories to the students.
The island’s number one industry is tourism — with sharp contrasts from one side of the road to the other. On the water side are resorts and hotels that cater to the tourists. The other side of the highway are the poor people — with 90 percent unemployment.
