PRESQUE ISLE – Marcia C. Carroll died July 4, 2014, at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Fairfield on March 21, 1934, the daughter of Bernard and Camilla (Toner) Conant.
Marcia was a vibrant woman with an unconditional love she shared for 80 years with those who became part of her life in various ways. She stood strong in her beliefs and morals, and was quick to share them. Although her memory was hampered by dementia the last couple of years, her wit and quick thinking never left her.
Cancer slowed her down only in these last few weeks, and it never kept her from dancing and enjoying life to its fullest. She was never a burden, always the life of the party, compassionate and caring and befriended by all ages.
She was a registered nurse who left her career to raise her children, forever a nurse in her mind and manner.
Marcia is survived by her two sons, Mark Carroll of Los Angeles, CA, and Kirk Carroll and his wife, Louise, and her grandchildren, Chelsey and Christopher of Presque Isle. She also leaves behind many family members, friends and a compassionate team of caregivers.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Frank “Skip” Carroll; her brother, Roger Conant and his wife, Geraldine.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, Presque Isle, with the Very Rev. Jean-Paul LaBrie Celebrant. Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street, Presque Isle. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to C.A.N.C.E.R., P.O. box 811, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.
