3-day Outlook: Wednesday, Oct. 18 – Friday, Oct. 20

High pressure centered near the southern tip of Nova Scotia this Wednesday morning will bring partly cloudy skies to the Saint John Valley today and tonight. The ridge of high pressure will move east of the Maritimes Thursday with partly sunny skies expected for Fort Kent and vicinity. Clouds increase Thursday night as deepening upper-level trough and associated surface front approaches from the Great Lakes. Low pressure along the Mid-Atlantic coast will intensify as the trough approaches and lift into Maine this weekend.

Low pressure lifts into southern New England early Saturday then slides across Maine Saturday into Sunday (though the exact track is still uncertain at this time). Currently, cloudy skies with rain overspreading the region and continuing through Sunday before tapering to showers Sunday evening that linger into Monday. With cooler air being drawn into the region Sunday night and Monday, a few snowflakes are possible, too. Rainfall totals will be dependent on the exact track of the low across Maine, however, around 1 to 1.5 inches may occur with this system.
