3-day outlook: Wednesday, Nov. 22-Friday, Nov. 24

Low pressure will track from the Mid-Atlantic coast to near Cape Cod later today then cross the Gulf of Maine tonight. Snow is likely through the day and into this evening before mixing with rain after midnight as temperatures warm aloft. NWS Caribou has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 am this morning until 6 pm this evening. Mixed precipitation is expected with total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze.

Temperatures are expected to remain stable through tonight then rise into the upper 30s Thanksgiving Day. Morning snow showers mix with/change to rain showers Thursday afternoon then back to snow showers Thursday evening. Little additional accumulation is anticipated. A cold front moves through late Thursday night into Friday morning producing some snow showers early Friday.

A large ridge of high pressure over the Dakotas will build east Friday heading into the weekend on brisk northwest winds. Decreasing clouds are expected Friday night with overnight lows falling into the low teens.

4- to 7-day outlook: Saturday, Nov. 25-Tuesday, Nov. 28

High pressure builds in Saturday and Sunday. Uncertainty increases for early next week as an oceanic low off the US Southeast coast tracks north and a low pressure system approaches from the Great Lakes. These systems may interact with each other producing snow Monday morning, mixing with rain in the afternoon and evening then changing to snow and tapering to snow showers Tuesday morning with isolated snow showers lingering into Tuesday afternoon. However, details are quite uncertain at this time.
