Homeless – The Youth Ministry of the Parish of St. Bruno-St. Remi in Van Buren participated in a Homeless Awareness night on Oct. 25-25, 1998. The youth slept in cardboard boxes under a makeshift tent on the parish lawn. The high point of the evening was a presentation by an area college student who had experienced homelessness as a teenager. All who heard the story of this speaker gained a new appreciation of what is often taken for granted: a home, clean clothes, showers, regular meals, living with love and respect and living without fear.

Head cook Paul Malenica showed the children the bread making process, then followed the lesson with fresh bread for all. Enjoying their snacks were Travis Hebert and Suzie Collins.
