HOULTON, Maine — The St. Apollonia Dental Clinic was selected to be the recipient of funds raised during the first three quarters of 2023 by employees of Katahdin Trust, a local community bank that serves northern Maine and the greater Bangor and Portland regions.
“We are happy to donate this year’s Casual Because We Care funds to the St. Apollonia Dental Clinic,” said Natasha McCarthy, executive vice president, chief human resources officer. “This program was designed to help our employees give back to our communities and we feel that this organization is very deserving of this donation.”
Each Katahdin Trust employee who wishes to participate in the Casual Because We Care program donates a minimum of $1 in exchange for the privilege to dress casually and wear jeans on Fridays and Saturdays. The program also allows employees to decide the beneficiary of the funds collected.
“St Apollonia Dental Clinic is humbled by this generous gesture,” said Norma Desjardins, DMD, executive director of St. Apollonia Dental Clinic. “It’s especially meaningful as it comes from the employees of Katahdin Trust Company, our friends and neighbors. This is the same group that makes up an important part of our Festival of Trees volunteer army. We truly appreciate this donation, which allows us to continue our mission of putting a smile on the face of every child in Aroostook County.”
