EASTON NEWS

Duncan E. Beaton, long-time Easton resident and former town manager, passed away last month at the age of 87. Dunc served as Easton town manager from 1980-85. Many became acquainted with him through his love of sports.

He had a life-long love for hockey and was instrumental in the organization of the Gentleman’s Hockey League in Presque Isle.
He was a member of the American Legion, Rotary International and Republican Committees, in addition to the Maine Town and Cities Managers Association. After retirement, he enjoyed many trips with his wife, Dorothy. They visited throughout Europe, Asia and Central America. Easton has many fine memories of Dunc and we extend our sympathies to his family.

Kiwanis Birthday Calendars

2015 is Easton’s Sesquicentennial! The Kiwanis Club of Easton wants to celebrate the town by creating a special Community Calendar for 2015.
It will have 12 different photos depicting the history of the community and will continue to have advertising for local businesses and everyone’s birthdays, as in the past. The cost of this year’s calendar will be $10.
In an effort to get the product out to everyone in November, the group is trying to have the order completed and sent to the printing company by Friday, Aug. 15.
Please call Loris Allen for more information at 488-6111. Checks can be sent to: Kiwanis Club of Easton, PO Box 291, Easton, ME 04740.
