Scholars encouraged to spread their wings
PRESQUE ISLE — At the June 7 Aroostook Aspirations Day held at the Aroostook Centre Mall, the 2014 Gauvin Scholars, the 16 students who were awarded Aroostook Aspirations scholarships and programming resources, received another special gift.
PenAir donated a round-trip ticket to any of its East Coast locations to each Gauvin Scholar. Making the presentation was PenAir Presque Isle Manager Ellen Nickerson.
Receiving airline tickets were Elizabeth Guimond of Wisdom High School, Patrick Belanger of Fort Kent High School, Mariah Hebert of Madawaska High School, Teya Lizotte of Van Buren High School, Krista Beaupre of Caribou High School, Katelynn Perkins of Presque Isle High School, Shyanna Smith of Fort Fairfield High School, Andrew White of Washburn District High School, Stephanie Hammond of Easton High School, Kaylin Blood of Limestone High School, Nicholas Belanger of Ashland High School, Brittany Drost of Central Aroostook High School, Elizabeth Knowles of Katahdin High School, Meghan Hebert of Hodgdon High School, Jessica Tucker of Southern Aroostook High School and Brielle Boutilier of Houlton High School.
Aroostook Aspirations Initiative awards one $1,000 scholarship, renewable for one year, to one senior from every Aroostook high school.
