PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center will feature the artwork of Emma Theriault and Izzy Theriault during the month of February. Their opening reception will be held on Friday, February 2 from 6 to 7:45 p.m.

Emma and Izzy are first-year students at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Starting last fall, they have been working on art-related projects at Wintergreen through an extended-learning opportunity facilitated by UMPI.

“Working with Emma and Izzy has been a wonderful experience,” said Gretchen Violette, Wintergreen’s events coordinator. “Their creativity is matched by their artistic abilities. I’ve presented them with challenges, and they jump in without hesitation.”

Natives of southern Maine, Emma and Izzy grew up with a deep love for art and the world around them.

“My preferred medium is acrylic paints,” said Emma. “For many of my paintings, I get inspiration from the world around me. I strive to capture the simplicity of life to remind people to separate themselves from the chaos and appreciate the world around them.”

Izzy said, “I like to paint with acrylics because I like the fast-drying aspects of the paint. What inspires me in my paintings is family. I love to capture moments of joy and childlike wonder.”

On the following Friday evening, February 9 from 5:45-6:45 p.m., Emma and Izzy will be Wintergreen’s featured artists for Tween Art Night too. Tweens will have a chance to see the sisters’ art while enjoying an evening of creativity.

“We’re so excited to showcase Emma’s and Izzy’s talents in our gallery,” added Gretchen. “I can’t wait for others to be wowed by their art.
