With a laugh or two

The winter season is interesting. Climate change certainly has had an effect on life here. So too have Covid issues and other such ailments. It’s all part of change.

We said goodbye to many a friend and family member with deep-felt stirrings of loss and struggles to remember them, and realize, too, that our own time will come. It is not easy, nor is it meant to be. At birth we were given gifts by chance. How we use them and how we survive the using gives us stories to share when gathered around the fire with the elders. Some stories are funny, others sad, still others make us mad or scare us that we, too, might have the same.

We share our monuments, humble though they be.

An example of this may be trying to recreate moments from a Buster Keaton movie. The accident and casualty department would ask us to refrain, but they are willing to pick up the pieces and put them back together. They do warn that repairs are expensive time consumers and can become hobbies. Such a view does not preclude having fun.

The days grow longer. The day I write this, daylight is 20 minutes longer. Make the most of it and think of the legacy that our dreams leave to our progeny. This is how we grow and join the great circle of jokers, clowns, and others around that winter fire. In short, have fun!
