Middle school-age football players wanted
Aroostook Football’s middle school program is in need of more players if it is to compete in a league this fall.
The team is open to players throughout central Aroostook County and is part of an 8 vs. 8 league that also includes teams from Houlton, Millinocket and Madawaska. Coach Jon Frederick said a minimum of 12 players are needed to field a team and the numbers were well short of that at presstime.
The season is scheduled to begin Aug. 19 and Frederick is hoping he can generate enough interest well before that date. The team practices Tuesdays and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Games, begin Sept. 13 and are held Saturdays at Caribou’s Sincock Field.
Registration information may be obtained at www.aroostookfootball.org. Contact Frederick by email at aresvonolympia@gmail.com or by calling 762-6177 for further information.
Flag football sign up
Registration for the men’s flag football league is being held through Aug. 22. The fee is $200 per team. Registration must be done in person at the William Haskell Community Center.
