CARIBOU, Maine — The Gray Memorial Methodist Church of Caribou made a generous donation to the Caribou Parks and Recreation Departments, Caribou Rec Outdoor Camp on Wednesday, February 7.
The Nurture Outreach and Witness committee from the Gray Memorial Methodist Church is passionate about supporting youth in our community. Especially youth in our community with limited means. This donation from Gray Memorial, amongst other donations from the staff at United Insurance, Soderberg Construction, Solman & Hunter, County Environmental, Cary Medical Center, The County Federal Credit Union and another anonymous donor, will provide outdoor recreation opportunities for area youth at little to no cost.
The motto of the story is simple, regardless of income, every child should have the opportunity to paddle the Allagash and feel the tug of a native brook trout pulling on their rod. Though the Allagash is only one of eight different programs the Caribou Rec Outdoor Camp provides to area youth over the course of the summer. It is important that all kids experience the thrill of spending time outdoors in Northern Maine.
