PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Well-known artist Filomena “Mena” Irving will exhibit her creative work at the Aroostook Agency on Aging during the First Friday Art Walk on Friday, March 1 from 4:30-7 p.m. in the Artists for Aging gallery at 260 Main Street.
Irving is a native of Toronto, and a former middle school science teacher. She arrived on the local art scene after attending a painting workshop hosted by renowned artist Tim Gagnon. That experience sparked a new career for Irving, resulting in prolific art sales, commissioned pieces, and a constantly expanding selection of wearable art including scarves, beanies, athletic wear and more.
She and her husband Scott live on a farm in Washburn.
The theme of Irving’s March show is “Time to Bloom” and it will feature several new botanical themed works as well as a collection of landscapes and seascapes. She also has an assortment of bucket hats, scarves, bags, greeting cards, yoga mats and lots of hoodies on display for the month-long exhibit.
Those presenting their creative works as part of “Artists for Aging” initiative have generously agreed to donate 20 percent of their sales to support programs and services offered by Aroostook Agency on Aging.
