NESHRM to host annual conference
PRESQUE ISLE — The Northeast Society for Human Resource Management (NESHRM) will host its 18th annual Human Resource Conference Thursday, Sept. 15 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at NMCC. This conference is designed for everyone from small businesses to large corporations including small business owners, managers, supervisors, executives and human resource professionals.
Conference topics range from an Affordable Care Act Update to Worksite Ergonomics, and much more. Scheduled presenters include Susan Wasserott, director of legislative affairs with the Maine Department of Labor, who will provide an update on current Maine issues; Eric Lesonsky and Bill Sansone from Homeland Security, who will give pointers on correctly completing, retaining and destroying I-9s; and Allan Brown, PI, chief ergonomist with MEMIC, who will discuss “To Sit or Stand at Work … That is the Question.”
In addition, Yvette Seaman, outreach coordinator with Pines Health Services, will give an Affordable Care Act update; while Kim Jones, public relations coordinator/Healthy You Program director at Cary Medical Center, will wrap up the day discussing “Breaking Bad … Communication Habits.”
Lunch is provided for seminar attendees and various vendors will have displays and information available. Registration deadline is Aug. 31.
NESHRM is an affiliate of the national HR organization, the Society of Human Resource Management. Chapter meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 a.m. at the Edmunds Conference Center at NMCC. Meetings are open to anyone in the Aroostook County area in the HR profession. The meeting programs and speakers address pertinent HR management and legislative issues.
