HOULTON, Maine — Greater Houlton Christian Academy will hold its 27th annual Bike-a-thon on Saturday, May 18th.

“Each year the bike-a-thon raises approximately $20,000, this past year exceeded our expectations raising $30,000. We hope to do that again this year.” explains Sarah Porter, Bike-a-thon co-chair.

“Now in its second decade, this fundraiser continues to be a critical part of GHCA’s annual fund which helps keep tuition affordable for all families who wish to attend the school,” explains Erin Watson, Bike-a-thon co-chair.

The Bike-a-thon will include the popular 2-, 5-, 10- and 20-mile bike routes, you can also walk/run any of the courses. There will also be an obstacle course for Little Eagles and Pre-K students. The event will also feature the GHCA Food Booth which will be open on school grounds from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community members are invited to stop by and grab their lunch!

“Our community has supported the GHCA Bike-A-Thon over the years, and this year is no different,” states Mr. Albers, GHCA head of school. “We like to thank all those who are supporting our students this year for their donations.”

Donors have been provided the option to pay their pledges online by visiting the Bike-a-thon page at www.ghca.com or mail a check directly to the school. “We can provide a pledge payment form to fill out and mail with their check,” states Porter. The form can be obtained by emailing office@ghca.com.

To ensure everyone’s safety, GHCA is requesting all pet owners leash or house their pets between 7 a.m. and noon along the routes. Additionally, we ask drivers to take extra caution during that time. The courses will cover the following roads: White Settlement, Catalina, Hodgdon Mills, Walker Road, Porter Settlement, Bangor Road and County Road.

As a local ministry, GHCA’s mission is to provide an academically solid education that is in harmony with Biblical values. Applications are now being accepted for the 2024-25 school year. The school has provided a Christian education to students from Aroostook County, New Brunswick, Canada and overseas students for 40 years.
