Ashland District School senior Abby Doughty of Ashland was recently selected to receive the 2024 Principal’s Award, according to Principal Joel Hall.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship
“Abby has truly made her mark at Ashland District School in terms of her school service and scholarship. Abby is an outstanding academic student with high goals and expectations for herself,” Hall said in presenting the award.
“Abby has always excelled in academics while taking the most difficult classes ADS has to offer. Abby has participated in several other co-curricular clubs and athletics in order to stay a well-rounded student,” he said.
Doughty is a member of the National Honor Society. She has also participated on the varsity soccer, basketball and baseball teams throughout her high school career. She was also named one of the 2024 Ashland District School Scholar-Athletes. She has also participated in student governmental positions for the Class of 2024.
Doughty is the daughter of Hope and Ronald Doughty of Ashland. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
