The Iva and Bernard Kenney family recently held its 37th reunion at the Chapman Ridge Runners Clubhouse with 60 family members and guests in attendance.
A delicious potluck dinner was enjoyed by all. The kitchen committee included Judy and Nancy Sweeney and Kathy Farnum. Dawn Kenney said “Grace.”
President Anna McCarthy conducted the meeting. Secretary and treasurer reports were read. The family donated to the Central Aroostook Humane Society in memory of Mitchell Dow; the Mapleton Alumni Fund in memory of Sterling Bagley; and the Ronald McDonald House in memory of Brian Kenney, all family members who passed away since the last reunion.
Lyle Kenney won the 50/50 drawing and donated it back to the scholarship fund. Scholarships will be awarded to Cassidy McCarthy, Shea Brown, Carsyn Koch and Alexander Carter. New marriages were recognized including Dan and Laurisa (Ferguson) Bagley. New births announced were Tyler William, son of Torey and Jenny McPherson; Scarlette Eliva, daughter of DeeJay and Meaghan Kenney; Corbin Montana, son of Parker and Stephanie Sweeney; Dustin James, son of Alicia Glidden; Hayden Stephen, son of Bill Millard and Heather Winslow; and Colby Matthew, son of Brianne and James Henderson.
Next year’s reunion will be at the Chapman Ridge Runners on the last Saturday in July.

Historical society supper and auction
The Haystack Historical Society will be holding its 21st annual supper and auction Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Museum. The supper will be served from 4:30-6 p.m. and the menu will include baked ham, beans, potato salad, coleslaw, rolls, homemade desserts and beverages. The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for children under 12. The auction will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be led by auctioneers Ron Leonard and Matt Gregg. Items up for auction will include donations from local businesses, gift certificates and crafts.
News from the Town Office
The Town Office will be closed Monday, Sept. 1 in observance of Labor Day. The office will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 8 a.m.
The Castle Hill Board of Selectmen will be meeting Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Town Office in the conference room. To view the agenda for the meeting, visit the Town Office’s website at www.mapleton.me.
‘Stuff the Bus’
The Mapleton Parents Organization is inviting the public to help support the students of Mapleton Elementary School by donating needed supplies.
Drop-off boxes are available at the Mapleton One Stop, Mapleton Lunch, Mapleton Town Office and The Pizza House for donations.
Students and parents will also be at the school during the open house Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 6-7 p.m. to accept donations in person.
Suggested donations include non-perishable snacks, crayons, colored pencils, tissues, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, glue sticks, pencils, markers, hand soap, folders, rulers, pencil boxes, lined paper and plain copy paper.
