Fort Fairfield police arrest two people for alleged drug possession, trafficking

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine – Two Aroostook residents were arrested in Fort Fairfield Sunday for allegedly trafficking illegal drugs.

Shawn Dufour, 37, of Caswell was driving on White Hill Street at around 12:10 a.m. when officers suspected he was operating under the influence.

Officers arrested Dufour and his passenger, Macenzie Charette, 31, of Fort Fairfield, and seized 13.61 grams of fentanyl and 2.8 grams of methamphetamine and an undisclosed amount of cash, said Police Chief Matthew Cummings.

Dufour now faces class A charges of operating under the influence of drugs and aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs and a class C charge of unlawful possession of schedule W drugs. 

Charrette was charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs, a class A offense, and unlawful possession of schedule W drugs, a class C offense. She was also arrested on an unrelated warrant and held on probation.

Dufour and Charrette are being held at Aroostook County Jail and will appear in court Monday, June 10.
