      WHEELER, Geraldine Marie, 84, MADISON, at Skowhegan, August 20, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 29, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison. Arrangements are under the care of Giberson Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

    MADISON – Geraldine M. Wheeler, 84, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan. She was born November 20, 1929, in Presque Isle, to Clement J. Sr. and Helen L. (Higgins) King.
    She attended schools in Presque Isle and was a member of the Girl Scouts, 4-H, the Methodist Youth Fellowship and the church choir.
    Geraldine married her High School sweetheart, Ronald Parker Wheeler. In 1948, they moved their family to Madison. As a new member of the community, Geraldine kept active in the Old Point PTA, the Madison Band Boosters, the local Girl Scout troop and Sunday School.
    Geraldine joined the Sterling Rebekah Lodge #95 on April 11, 1953, and advanced through various offices until she received her Past Noble Grand Degree in 1963 at the Rebekah Assembly at Fry Hall in Portland. She served as chaplin of Sterling Lodge for over 40 years, receiving many certificates of merit for her outstanding lectures in the Rebekah Degree. Geraldine received the Decoration of Chivalry, a high honor bestowed on a Rebekah for work that has contributed not only to her lodge but to church, family and community. This award was presented to her at Thomas College on June 3, 1963. Geraldine was also a Past District Deputy President of District #4 and a member of Rebekah Assembly of Maine and a Past President of the Old Point Grands Association. As a member of Sterling Lodge for over 60 years, she received her 50 year Jewel at a special meeting in May of 2003.
    Over the years she cultivated many hobbies, including painting, doll making, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Geraldine became a talented seamstress and artist. Her framed scenes and landscapes of Maine adorn her home. Her summers were devoted to outdoor pursuits at the family’s cottage at Embden Lake.
    Geraldine was predeceased by her husband, Ronald; a daughter, Victoria, her parents, a brother and two sisters.
    She is survived by three children, Ronald P. Wheeler II and is wife, Janis of Belchertown, MA, Sharon Ashley and her husband, Arthur of Islesboro, and Allen Wheeler and his wife, Lynnette of Bellingham, WA; three grandchildren, H.G. Turner of Bellingham, WA, Jennifer Lovett of Wichita, KS, and Gregory Wheeler of Bellingham, WA; two great-grandsons, Hendrix Lovett of Wichita, KS, and Murdock Wheeler of Bellingham, WA; two sisters, Barbara Hews and Jackie Haines; and one brother, Richard King all of Presque Isle.
    A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2014, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison with Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple Street, Madison.
