Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Aug. 26 at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Cody Thompkins, Central Aroostook High School’s varsity boys’ soccer coach. Cody is a business major at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He spoke about his hopes for the team this year.
He likes to win but believes that sports should be about more than wins and losses. Respect, loyalty, teamwork and sportsmanship are every bit as important to learn, noted Cody. These are great life skills for players to take with them into their futures.
He believes that each team member has a purpose in every game and wants to help them become better players. The program will grow and get better each year as players return as more experienced individuals.
Cody greatly appreciates the coaching he received from Ryan Shaw while playing high school soccer in Easton. He has also worked as assistant coach under Shaw and believes that his players deserve his best efforts.
