Update on our shelter

Many are wondering how the new shelter is coming. In a few short weeks, we will be ready to announce publicly, for the first time, just how we have managed to accomplish this monumental task. It started with the generosity of just one individual. Stay tuned.

Our last board of directors meeting started with a tour of the new building. We are all very excited about the prospect of moving in within a few short months.

The building is beautiful and will be such a welcome change from the challenges that our current shelter is facing.  There will be safe and easier access to the dog kennels, and that in itself will be an amazing change. Our current outside dog kennels are simply dangerous, not only for the dogs, but for the employees as well.

The new dedicated outdoor air system is electric cooling and propane heating with 100 percent air exchange, so heating the new building will be more efficient. The bonus will be that during the hot and sweltering months, there will be a cooling option as well.

We, as a board, have worked extremely hard for close to two years, fundraising, planning and preparing for this project.  But the bottom line is that we couldn’t have accomplished any of this without the support and generosity of so many individuals, businesses and several amazing grants that we were so very fortunate to receive.

Right now, we have quite a large variety of dogs available for adoption.

We always welcome dog walkers who are interested in stopping by and going for a quiet, healthy walk around the area. It is great for the dogs and especially great for you.

And don’t forget the kitties. Even though you may not be able to adopt one of our felines, they always welcome a little play time and socializing.

Remember, in the weeks to come we will be sharing some wonderful news about our journey to see our new building project become a reality.
