Letter writer cited old information
To the editor:
I am writing in response to Jim Cyr of Caribou’s uninformed letter to the editor last week about Representative Bob Saucier. For the record, the website he referred to, “Project Vote Smart” appears to be a gotcha site. They pick and choose controversial issues instead of human issues.
Cyr should have done his research about his own State Representative Carol McElwee (R-Caribou) who also “failed the political courage test. along with the following Aroostook County legislators: Rep. Ricky Long (R-Sherman); Sen. Roger Sherman (R-Houlton); Rep. Joyce Fitzpatrick (R-Houlton); Rep. Tyler Clark (R-Easton); former Rep. Mike Willette (R-Presque Isle); former Rep. Alex Willette (R-Mapleton); Rep. Bernard Ayotte (R-Caswell); Rep. Allen Nadeau (R-Fort Kent); and Rep. Ken Theriault (D-Madawaska).
The only legislator from Aroostook County who passed the test in 2012 was Sen. Troy Jackson (D-Allagash) who was running for Congress. It should also be noted that the ranking was issued in 2012. Representative Saucier was elected in November of 2012 and didn’t take office until 2013.
