PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – A Washburn artist will show some of her works at Aroostook Agency on Aging during the month of September.
Lila McCrum’s month-long Artists for Aging exhibit opens Friday, September 6 in time for Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk which brings together events from various venues including Wintergreen Arts Center, Ignite PI at the Northeastland Hotel, Reed Gallery at the University of Maine, The Common Gallery and the Akeley Gallery at the Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library.
The artist will be in the Agency’s 260 Main Street showroom to discuss her work with community members from 4:30-7:30 p.m. during the Art Walk. Otherwise, the public may visit the Agency on Aging anytime Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The artist grew up on a farm in Washburn with her parents and three siblings. “My parents raised me to love others and most importantly love the Lord. I am able to express that through my work.”
McCrum has a bachelor’s degree in the fine arts with an emphasis on drawing and painting and her preferred medium is watercolor. She currently works at a retirement home where the residents inspired her latest project which features them in portraits done in watercolor.
During the upcoming show, she will be presenting a variety of works — all things that she is passionate about. McCrum’s art is found on Facebook at LCM Arts and Designs and there is also a link to her website. Artists who exhibit in the Artists for Aging space, dedicate a percentage of all sales to support Agency on Aging programs and services.
