Aroostook County Action Program Inc. announces its participation in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meals are available at no separate charge to all enrolled children. ACAP’s CACFP Specialist Connie Montpetit emphasizes the importance of recruiting more childcare home providers and small facilities across the state to participate in the program, especially given the rising food costs. “Many children rely on childcare centers to provide meals that meet their daily nutritional needs. The CACFP ensures that participating programs offer safe and flexible meal services according to USDA nutrition standards, so children in care receive balanced, nutritious meals and snacks,” she said. “The program also plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of childcare and making it more affordable for many low-income families. With the increasing costs of food, now is the perfect time for childcare providers to enroll in the program.”
