Fox brings team-building skills to Statehouse

To the editor:
When I heard that Larry Fox was running for the Maine House of Representatives, I was excited and couldn’t wait for Election Day when I would cast my vote for an honest to goodness great guy, a thoughtful, insightful, intelligent man. Then I discovered I am no longer in District 147, so this letter to the Star-Herald is my vote.

I first knew Larry when we both taught seventh-graders at Cunningham Middle School. We were part of a team of four teachers who met daily to coordinate our studies and plan units and activities for our students. Larry had lots of ideas and was ready to share, but he was also always prepared to listen to his three team members. Not only did his fellow teachers appreciate him, his students loved him.
Later when Larry became our middle school principal, he proved that his administrative skills were as effective as his classroom expertise. Faculty meetings can be a real drain after a long day in the classroom, and maybe there had been a few hitches in a couple classes. It was time to finish correcting the tests and make sure everything was ready for the next day, but no, a faculty meeting was on the schedule. Larry began every faculty meeting with “Sharing the Positive.” Listening to fellow teachers relate the good things happening in their classes put everyone in a positive mood to attack the business on the agenda. Yes, Larry Fox knows how to get things done.
I can’t cast my vote for Larry, but those of you in District 147 can, and you will be glad you did.
