DESJARDINS, John G., 63, WESTFIELD, October 7, 2014. A celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Presque Isle Elks Lodge, Presque Isle. Arrangements in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
WESTFIELD – John G. Desjardins, 63, passed away at his home,Tuesday, October 7, 2014. John was born in Edmundston, NB, June 1, 1951, the son of Maurice and Rachel(Grondin) Desjardins.
John owned and operated Desjardins Builders for many years. He was an active member of the Presque Isle Elks Lodge #1954, a member of the Presque Isle Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Advisory Board of Northern Maine Community College. He was also a Vietnam Veteran serving his country proudly in the 101st Airborne Division.
John loved all things outdoors, and especially enjoyed spending time at his camp at Big Machias Lake, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He enjoyed racing snowmobiles and was a member of the Maritime Snowmobile Racing Federation, and enjoyed Harness Racing as well.
John is survived by his wife, Linda; his mother, Rachel; his sons and their spouses: Jason and Lisa Desjardins, Jason and Kelly Ireland, John P. Desjardins, Jeremy Brooks and Melissa Gustin, and David Desjardins; his grandchildren: Kayla Ireland, Rhianna Desjardins and Charlotte Brooks. He is also survived by his mother- and father-in-law, Ted and Bunny Saucier; his siblings and their spouses: Nicole Moreau, Paul and Maria Desjardins, Dan Desjardins, David Desjardins and Jen Jagielo, Robin Davis and Lori Desjardins and her partner, Ben Lowry. In-laws and their spouses: Pete and Lisa Saucier, Andy and Kara Marino and Jim and Lynne Saucier. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and many close friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Maurice; his brother, Clifford; and his sister-in-law, Patty.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Aroostook Cancer Care, Hospice of Aroostook and the many friends who stood by John and his family during his battle with cancer.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at the Presque Isle Elks Lodge, 508 Main St., Presque Isle. A reception will follow the services at the Lodge. Memories and condolences may be expressed to the family at www.duncan-graves.com.
