Owls’ Healy returns to sink UMF

FARMINGTON, Maine The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls welcomed back 2013 USCAA All-American Derek Healy, who scored the game-winning goal in overtime in his team’s 2-1 victory over UM-Farmington Saturday.

The match went into halftime without a score registered for either squad, but at 48:49 the Beavers saw a penalty kick from Jordan Luks soar above the cross bar. The match stayed knotted for more than 15 minutes of action before UMF would strike at the 62-minute mark when junior Uriah Forest-Bulley gave the Beavers the first lead of the match with a header off a throw-in that went just past the outstretched arms of Owl keeper Caleb Bragg-Grady.
UMPI tied the game in the 77th minute when freshman Solomon Fast scored his first collegiate goal in front of the net through a cluster of Beaver defenders. Erik Gumaer sent a cross from the right side to Fast, who was sitting in a sea of maroon of white and booted the shot into the bottom right side of the goal.
It took Healy only 77 seconds into overtime to make his presence felt in his first match back from a pre-season ankle injury. Playing in his first game of the year, Healy found himself one-on-one with UMF keeper Matt Wilson and lined a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal to give UMPI the walk-off win.
