Marine Corps group announces raffle winner
The Marine Corps League Meo Bose Detachment 1414, of Caribou, recently held a fund-raising raffle to raise money for ongoing efforts to assist local veterans in need.
Jim Fecondo, from the Eagle Lake area, was named the winner of a SAV Model 10 Trophy Hunter XP Package .30-06 Springfield, with 22-inch blued barrel.
Commander Craig Faye and members Wayne Caron, Laura Cyr, Donald Cyr, Ron Harris and Ron Sites gathered at Ben’s Trading Post in Presque Isle in October to draw the winning ticket.
“We raised approximately $2,100 through the raffle. The funds will help area veterans with things like lights, fuel and medical expenses,” said Laura Cyr.
“We’re the northernmost unit in the U.S. and also the newest,” she said.
The organization is made up of Marines and former Marines with honorable service.
“Our aim is to perpetuate the traditions and spirit of the United States Marine Corps through continuous association of Marines who wore the Eagle Globe and Anchor at any time, in war and in peace,” said Faye. “We welcome donations to aid veterans in need.”
The group meets the third Saturday of each month at 2 p.m. at Caribou Medical Center, 138 Van Buren Rd., Caribou.
