On Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. there will be eight juniors from Easton High School performing a monologue or short story between three and five minutes long.
The judges for the event include: Mary Ellen Trainer, Betsy York and Robin Barker. The speakers will include: Shawn White, Jake Coffman, Brandon Hosford, Macey Currier, Blake Bradley, Taylor Howe, Drew Sotomayor and Logan Halvorson. Entrance fee is $3 students, $5 adults, $4 families (4-plus), $2 seniors (65 and over), and children 6 and under get in free.
Bottle drive
The Easton High School Class of 2017 will be having a bottle drive around Easton on Saturday, Nov. 22. The youth will be out gathering in the community from 9:30 a.m. to noon, or you can drop returnables off at EHS during that time. To ensure they visit your address, please call the high school office at 488-7702.
Christmas Craft Fair
The Craft Fair will take place at Easton Elementary School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.
They have over 40 crafters and vendors, including: Pampered Chef, Dove Chocolate, Scentsy, wooden plaques, honey, Mary Kay, primitive items, homemade goods, Pink Zebra, Tupperware, jewelry, Miche, and much more! There is a large door prize, just show up and enter your name. Admission is free, all money raised by the vendor fee goes to the Autism Support Group in our area.
PTO Christmas Bazaar
The EPCO will hold a Christmas Bazaar on Wednesday, Dec. 10, for Easton Elementary students to purchase gift items for family members at the bargain price of $1 each. They are asking for donations of items that are new or gently used that would be appropriate for children, parents and grandparents. We are still in need of gift bags (any occasion) and tissue paper for wrapping. The long Thanksgiving weekend might be the perfect time to clean house and find items to donate! Holiday craft workshops
It’s that time of year again! Time to make your reservation to attend one of the Francis Malcolm Science Center’s popular workshops. They provide all of the supplies you will need to make your own wreath, swag or centerpiece. Call 488-5451, or send an email to info@francismalcolmsciencecenter.com to reserve your spot soon!
Workshops will be offered on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 5:30-7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 29, 9 a.m. to noon; and Friday, Dec. 5, 5:30-7 p.m. Prices are as follows: wreaths and large centerpieces are $12 and swags and small centerpieces cost $5.
Kiwanis meetings
The Kiwanis Club of Easton meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6-7 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall; everyone is welcome to attend. Dinner provided for a small fee. Please plan to join them.
Rec calendar
Wednesday, Nov. 19 — Kids’ yoga at the Hall from 2:45 to 4 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 20 — Science fun after school at the Hall. Today’s theme will be the incredible egg.
Friday, Nov. 21 — Seniors will be visited by representatives of the Aroostook Agency on Aging at the Manor starting at 11 a.m. in the rec room. The topic is Natural Care for Dry Skin. Lunch will be served following the program.
Monday, Nov. 24 — Senior Nutrition at the Manor starting at 11 a.m. The cost is $3. We’ll be making leftover turkey casserole.
After-school cooking at the Hall until 4:15 p.m. Open to grades 1 and up. We’ll be making pumpkin pie squares.
Tuesday, Nov. 25 — Field trip to The Jump; the bus will depart directly after school (early release) for the Aroostook Centre Mall in Presque Isle and return at 2:45 p.m. Please be sure your child is wearing socks. The cost is $6; concessions will be open for snack items. Open to everyone but kids younger than first grade must be accompanied by an adult or responsible teen.
Wednesday, Nov. 26 — Let’s go to the movies! We will be going to the Braden Theatre in Presque Isle. The cost is $5 (includes admission, popcorn and soda) for a movie. The bus will depart directly after school (early release) and return at 2:45 p.m. Concessions will be available at the theatre. Open to everyone but kids younger than first grade must be accompanied by an adult or responsible teen.
