GRASS, Florence Ada, 94, MARS HILL, November 16, 2014. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.
MARS HILL – Florence Ada Grass, 94, passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. She was born on Nov. 29, 1919, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Darrell and Nettie (Bowers) McCrum.
She graduated from Aroostook Classical Institute in 1938. Florence married Alton Grass on June 27, 1942. They farmed together until she went to work as a dietary aide at the Aroostook Health Center. She was a longtime member of the United Baptist Church of Mars Hill.
She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Wanda and Dana Jewell of Herman, and Gloria and Gerald Clockedile of Old Orchard; five grandchildren: Annette Lawrence and her husband, M. Dean, of Blaine, Arden Folsom and his wife, Connie, of Mars Hill, Andrea Shorey and her husband, Graydon, of South China, Debbi Jo Harvey and her husband, Duane, of Scarborough, Diana Spampanato and her husband, Sal of Howell, N.J.; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Fred Dearborn of Blaine; and a sister-in-law, Connie McCrum of Presque Isle.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alton in 1993; two brothers, Dana and Stuart McCrum; three sisters, Phyllis Looke, Yvonne Bubar, and Marilyn Dearborn; and a son-in-law, Ricky Folsom.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, with Rev. Gerry Dill officiating. Friends may call Friday, 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Pierce Cemetery, Mars Hill. A reception will be held at the United Baptist Church following the burial.
