To the editor:
Recently I have observed a variety of dates for the “birth” of the Presque Isle Recreation Center. The most recent was “1964.” That was nearly two decades off the mark.
I recall spending many “after-school” hours at the Rec Center in the fall of 1946 with friends listening to the radio broadcast of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox. That piece of history should help to make the case that the present Rec Center has served the community long enough.
