Workplace safety classes set for December
The Maine Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Standards is hosting its no-charge safety courses for employers throughout December.
“New federal OSHA recordkeeping updates are happening come Jan. 1 and SafetyWorks! is increasing these workshops to help businesses prepare for the changes,” said Gov. Paul R. LePage. “I encourage businesses to take advantage of all SafetyWorks! programs and consultations. The return on investment in workplace safety is well worth the effort.”
Courses are held at no charge to employers and their employees to ensure and promote safety in the workplace. The courses are held at the SafetyWorks! Training Institute at the Maine Department of Labor, 45 Commerce Drive in Augusta:
• Driver Awareness: Tuesday, Dec. 2, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.;
• Scaffolding and Fall Protection: Wednesday, Dec. 3, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.;
• OSHA Recordkeeping: Thursday and Monday, Dec. 4 and 8, in Augusta;
• Automotive Lift/Jack Stand Safety and Compliance: Tuesday, Dec. 9, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.;
• 10-Hour Construction Standards: Thursday and Friday, Dec. 11-12, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and
• 30-Hour General Industry Standards, Monday-Friday, Dec. 15-19, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
