Next Step Maine Employers to be honored at luncheon
The Maine Development Foundation’s Next Step Maine Employers’ Initiative works in collaboration with business, community members and educational partners across Maine to enhance the educational attainment of Maine’s employees.
The primary focus is on Maine’s employers and their key role in encouraging and supporting employees to complete their degree and/or continue their learning through training, professional development and certifications.
Currently, 225 employers have joined the initiative, representing 72 towns and all 16 counties.
On Friday, Dec. 5, during Educate Maine’s Education Leadership Luncheon, the newest members to join this statewide initiative will be recognized. So far this year, 18 new employers have committed to further support and encourage educational attainment.
Becoming a Next Step Maine Employer is free. Employers are asked to consider how they currently support their employees’ education and career goals and to take at least one more step to enhance those efforts. Each step or steps is unique to the organization and varies widely.
Maine Development Foundation and Educate Maine thank them for modeling the way for other employers, large and small, in the effort to support the advancement of employee educational attainment.
Among the Next Step Maine Committed Employers newest members of the Next Step Maine Employers’ Initiative from Aroostook County are: Buck Farms of Mapleton, which is being recognized for training employees for new certification in preparation for a change in industry focus; and Catholic Charities Maine, headquartered in Portland, for providing employees with information on the importance of degree attainment through leadership meetings, team meetings, and agency wide emails.
Congratulations to the 2014 committed employers who have taken one more step to support employee development and degree attainment.
