He came home to Maine, raised his family and worked as an operating engineer building and maintaining many of the roads and highways still in use today. After retirement, Brownie spent much of his free time in his shop producing the material for, and weaving traditional Aroostook County ash baskets for family, friends, and eventually for sale on the Maine tourist market.
He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Michael and Gail Weaver of Lebanon, ME, and Mark and Marie Weaver of New Baltimore, MI; a daughter, Ella and her husband, Ricki McPherson, of Cushman AR; a brother, Guy Weaver and his wife, Burt, of Presque Isle, ME; two sisters, Lucy Stevens of Ashland, ME, and Lois Burt of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
