Vinal Richard McPherson

    MCPHERSON, Vinal Richard, 81, PRESQUE ISLE, December 15, 2014. Spring interment will be at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle. 

    PRESQUE ISLE – Vinal Richard McPherson, 81, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at a Presque Isle health care facility. He was born on March 9, 1933, in Mapleton, the son of Vinal W. “Buster” and Phoebe J. (Grendell) McPherson.
    He actively served in the U.S. Air Force 1952-1956. Vinal retired in 1991 from New England Telephone Co. after 32 years. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and snowmobiling. Vinal was an active member of the Mapleton United Methodist Church, a member of the Chapman Snowmobile Club and the Maine Snowmobile Association.
    He is survived by his wife, Louise Ann (Nightingale) McPherson of Presque Isle; two sons, Boyd McPherson and his wife, Jeanese, of Marysville, WA, Philip McPherson and his wife, Margaret, of Presque Isle; a daughter, Lynn Frost and her husband, Dean, of Litchfield, NH; a sister, Ina Hoffses and her husband, Gene, of Castle Hill; a brother, Elvin “Chick” McPherson and his wife, Laurie, of Mapleton; grandchildren, Michael and Katelyn McPherson, Kristen and Erin Frost; several nieces and nephews.
    He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, William L. McPherson.
    The family wishes to give thanks to the staff at Leisure Village for all the care and support they gave Vinal.
    Friends called 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at the Mapleton United Methodist Church where funeral services were held at 2 p.m., with Pastor Dorothy Matson officiating.
