Burtt and Wing lead Presque Isle swimmers

    LIMESTONE, Maine — The Presque Isle swim team participated in their first meet of the season Saturday, with the Caribou Vikings and Orono Red Riots also making the trip to the Limestone Community School pool.
The Orono squads swept the competition.
For the Wildcats, Matt Burtt won the 50 freestyle in 25.09 seconds, with Leigh Buck the runner-up in 25.62 seconds.
Burtt won the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.41 and teammate Kyle Kilcollins was second in 1:19.11. Buck took first in the 100 freestyle in 58.18 seconds.
The Presque Isle girls’ Madelyn Wing was the fastest in the 200 free with a time of 2:18.18. She also claimed the top spot in the 500 free in 6:20.8 and was a leg in the 200 free relay team that was second in 2:20.3. She teamed with Goulet, Deschenes and Currie in that event.
The 200 medley relay team also took second in 2:36.09.
Elizabeth Deschenes of PI was third in the 50 free in 36.6 seconds and Libbee Currie was fourth in 37.04.
Olivia Goulet came in second in the 100 free (1:17.1) and Currie was fifth in 1:24, while Goulet took fourth in the 100 back (1:32.68) and teammate Katrina Dakin was sixth (2:09.13).
