Sen. Willette to chair
State and Local Government Committee

Senate President Michael Thibodeau (R-Waldo) has announced that State Sen. Michael Willette (R-Aroostook) will serve as the chair of the Maine Legislature’s State and Local Government Committee during the 127th Legislature.

Willette served previously on the State and Local Government Committee as a member of the House of Representatives during the 124th Legislature.
“I am honored to be appointed as chair of this committee,” Willette said. “What happens at the State House in Augusta has a profound impact on our local communities across the state, and it is crucial that we are in synch with them at all times. I look forward to working with my Republican, Democrat and Independent colleagues on the committee toward the common goal of strengthening ties between the state and local governments.”
Assistant Senate Republican Leader Andre Cushing (R-Penobscot) said, “Mike Willette is an excellent choice for this committee. In his previous legislative experience, he had a reputation for finding innovative solutions to problems and breaking the gridlock in Augusta. That quality will serve him and the people of Maine well on the State and Local Government Committee.”
Willette represents Maine Senate District 2 which includes communities in Aroostook County.
