Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society
The Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society will hold its Board of Directors meeting Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. before the regular meeting. If you are a board member, please plan to attend.
They would like you to please give them an hour of your time once a month to help keep the building operating. The fund-raisers they have are just paying their expenses and leave them with little else to do their projects. If you have enjoyed voting, going to town meetings, their suppers, having a reasonable hall to rent right in your own town, and other events, please consider helping to keep their organization going for future years.
Dues are $10 per year (working member), $15 (non-working member) or $100 (lifetime membership). Their meetings are the fourth Tuesday of the month from February through November. They are now renting the hall through the month of October for showers, reunions, and birthday parties. Please see any member for details.
Officials are requesting that anyone who has knowledge of a veteran who served in the military between 1903 to the present to write or call Natalie Maynard, 2877 State Road, Castle Hill, Maine 04757 or 764-4878. They need names, dates, and any information you can give them so they can place the names on a sign or in a book in the future. The person must have been a resident of Castle Hill at the time of service.

Mapleton Chapman Castle Hill Senior Citizens
After a three-month summer recess, the Mapleton Chapman Castle Hill Senior Citizens Club met at its regular meeting place, Mapletree Estates, with 17 in attendance. The blessing was asked by Anita Morin.
After a lovely luncheon, President Marie Little called the meeting to order. The flag salute and the Lord’s Prayer were repeated. The secretary’s report was read and accepted. A letter from the Aroostook Area on Aging was read and discussed. We decided on an amount to donate to their cause. The secretary’s records were passed from Barbara Waddell to Helen Finnemore to keep temporarily until the election of officers in January 2008. Barb was presented with a plaque and a thank you card for her years of service as secretary. The treasurer’s report was read and accepted.
Cards were signed by all for Rhoda Wells, who is recovering from a broken hip in the Caribou Nursing Home and Rehab Center, and for Christine Dicker, who has moved to Presque Isle Dyer Street Housing from Mapletree Estates. She has also had recent surgery and we wish her well.
Becky Sargefield entertained the group with several funny stories.
The Mapleton Chapman Castle Hill Senior Citizens meets every Monday – except the fifth Monday – at Mapletree Estates.
