Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Wilson) Peers
PEERS, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Wilson), 91, MARS HILL, February 9, 2015. At her request, there will be no services at this time. Spring interment will be at Peers Cemetery in Caswell, ME. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Mars Hill.
MARS HILL – Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Wilson) Peers passed away on February 9, 2015, at The Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. Betty was born January 29, 1924, in Girvan, Ayrshire, Scotland. She was the second of four daughters born to Alexander and Alexandrina (McCurdy) Wilson. Betty served her country in the Royal British Army during World War II. During that time, she met the love of her life, Charles Charlie L. Peers. They were married in Leicester City, England on September 30, 1944. Following the war, Charlie and Betty made their home in Mars Hill. They raised three sons, Roy, David and Dale.
In 1991, Betty retired from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Following retirement, Charlie and Betty founded Charbet Farms, where they raised and raced several successful Standard Bred horses all over the State of Maine. Betty loved dancing and travelling. She had the opportunity to travel to many places during her lifetime.
She is survived by her sons, David Peers and his friend, Pam Codrey, of Mars Hill, and Dale Peers and his wife, Mary, of Easton. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Lisa Grass, Tom Peers, Trisha Grant, Breeanna Locke, McKayla Hairston, Daniel Peers, Jennifer Tweedie and Katie Danielson. She is also survived by 18 greatgrandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She will be missed by the extended Peers family as well as by special friend, Judy Bubar.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Charlie in 2009; her son, Roy Peers in 2011; as well as her three sisters.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Aroostook Health Center for the love and care they provided during Betty’s stay.
